Ethically sourced.
Bunny Lane grew up in Casner, IL next to a junk yard surrounded by nature and animals she befriended, dressed up and made her companions. Preferring the company of animals over humans she now resides in Carriere, MS on a 5 acre farm with her menagerie of creatures. Getting back to her country roots after years in New Orleans, LA and Houston, TX has enabled her to create her version of contemporary American taxidermy.
Seven years ago frustrated by the lack of artistic modern taxidermy, she took it up as a hobby which turned quickly into an accidental career. She sculpts, mechanically animates, paints, sews, and works with wood to create environments for her animals to be reborn in. Drawing inspiration from vintage Americana and repurposed materials she uses traditional folk art methods in a unique way to bring new life to her practice. Using only ethically sourced animals, she strives to honor each animal that crosses her path.
She has showcased throughout the southern United States in various art festivals and galleries. Awarded “ Most Unique Work” at Jazz Fest 2018, you can also find her work at Mortal Machine Gallery on Royal Street in the historic New Orleans French Quarter.
